The city has a modern international airport with a vast air network, connecting Rio to Brazil and the world. Located at Ilha do Governador, the Tom Jobim International Airport - RIOgaleão is about 20 minutes away from the City Center and the South Zone, where most tourist attractions are located, and has fast connection with the region of Barra da Tijuca, through an expressway, the Linha Amarela (Yellow Line).

The second largest airport in the City, and first to be built, Santos Dumont airport is located in the City Center, in a privileged location, right by the Guanabara Bay. It concentrates domestic flights. Its main activity is the Rio - São Paulo air shuttle service, in addition to connecting Rio to several cities in the country.
